The Research Integrity Unit (RIU) has started functioning on 16th August, 2019 at the ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre (ICMR-VCRC), Puducherry under the Chairmanship of Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Scientist G & Director; Dr. Nisha Mathew, Scientist F as Research Integrity Officer (RIO); Dr. K. Vijesh Sreedhar, Scientist E; Dr. V. Vasuki, Scientist E; Dr. A. Srividya, Scientist E & Mrs. S.P. Pramukha, Library Information Officer as members. RIU follows the “ICMR policy on Research Integrity and Publication Ethics (RIPE) which provides the roadmap to overcome/ eliminate any sort of misconduct which may happen at any stage of research and improve the quality for better outcomes”. All the manuscripts undergo a strict pre-publication review by RIU to ensure < 10% similarity shown by the iThenticate plagiarism checker software, human ethics committee and animal ethics committee approval for the studies involving human or animal subjects, correct statistical methods, availability of the raw data, publication in peer reviewed indexed journal and not predatory journal. ICMR-VCRC has a Journal Club functioning under RIU with Dr. I. Geetha as Nodal officer. VCRC-JC organised 3 guest lectures and 7 seminars by VCRC researchers. On the completion of one successful year now VCRC-RIU has conducted 17 meetings and cleared 48 manuscripts, 11 patent applications, 3 conference abstracts and one PhD synopsis.
