Dr. Prasanta Saini have more than 10 years research experience in the field of parasitology and vector borne diseases. He is interested in investigating the role of parasite, host and vector determinants for atypical leishmaniasis. Currently he is focus on deciphering the dermotropy/viscerotropy mechanism of Leishmania donovani. Also he intend to extend his research to study the vector immunology involved in the pathogen survival and transmission.

Research Interests:

  • Morphological identification of vector and non-vector species of sandflies
  • Molecular taxonomy of vector species in India
  • Atypical manifestations of Leishmania donovani
  • Analysis of gut-microbiome of sandflies
  • Xenomonitoring of leishmaniasis vector
  • Genetic diversity of Phlebotomus argentipes in India
  • Vector-pathogen interaction
  • Vector immunology
